Baptism

What is baptism?

Baptism is a public declaration that Jesus is your Savior and that you have dedicated every part of your life to knowing Him better and making Him known.

Why Are We Baptized?

We are not baptized in order to be saved. Baptism is an outward expression of an internal transformation.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” —Ephesians 2:8–9

We are baptized because Jesus commands it.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” —Matthew 28:19–20

We are baptized to begin a life of obedience to Christ.

“And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.” —1 John 2:3

We are baptized to identify with Christ’s experience.

“For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” —Galatians 3:27

We are baptized to identify with Christ.

“Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” —Romans 6:3–4
