Please read 1 Timothy 2:8-15. What are some of the difficult aspects of this passage for you regarding men and women in the church? What were some of the ideas taught on Sunday that challenged you?
Consider 1 Peter 3:3-4. Both 1 Peter and 1 Timothy redirect the focus from external adornment to an inward development. Women in the room, how do you think critically about issues of modesty? Men in the room, how can you encourage your sisters in this area?
Please read 1 Timothy 3:1. Bryson called the men of the church to aspire to lead and to not allow for a void in godly leadership. Brothers, how is the Lord prompting you to aspire? Women in the room, how are you championing and cultivating your husbands or brothers to lead?
The idea of a “quiet submissiveness” was discussed on Sunday. If it’s not silence, how do you identify quietness in someone?
So why can’t we just say this passage is cultural again? Tell me why this isn’t patriarchal nonsense.
So how does contentment play into this conversation? Why is submission to the Lord the first piece in embracing these sorts of passages?
