Icebreaker Question: Who is someone in your life who serves really well? Who is someone in your life you honestly struggle to serve and why?
Please read Mark 10:35-45. What were some of the main takeaways for you as we studied this passage on Sunday? (Consider memorizing Mark 10:45 as a key verse on serving)
Thinking about some of the characters of the Old Testament who do you think exemplified servant leadership characteristics and why? (to lay down your life, serve others, rightly understand authority etc.)
James and John were posturing for position with Jesus and failed to understand the call of following Jesus. Can you think of a time you really postured yourself to gain some sort of position or advantage over others in your work, the church, social spaces, or family? How do you now reflect on those circumstances?
What is the difference between a manager and a leader?
Please read Colossians 3:22-24. What are some ways you tend to serve in order to be seen by others? What is a way you can grow in your pursuit of pleasing the Lord in your labors?
Who is a leader in your life you really respect and why? What attributes can you observe and seek to exemplify yourself?
